International Day of Peace

Did you know that Friday was International Day of Peace?  Here is a layout I did for the IIG DT in honor of this day!

When it comes to my kids, I would have to say that Payton is the peacemaker. Not always with his brothers I will admit. But with friends and cousins and many others, Payton is the quiet, calm and non-aggressive child. He does not like conflict and will be the one to step away from a situation if it means keeping the peace.

In this picture of Payton, he is making a hand gesture that all of his youth group makes! No real "meaning" to it but kind of way to talk to each other and know they are a family of Christians without having to "say" anything. This pic was taken right before we left for his dance recital . . . yes, he is quite the little hip hopper!

On this layout, I used the AC Teen papers. Some thickers for the title and some random chipboard pieces (peace sign and arrow) that I painted the colors I wanted. Recently bought the DCWV creamy cardstock on clearance. If you have seen it, you know it is very BRIGHT! That is what I used for the background paper . . . kind of a challenge from a fellow scrapper to use those bright papers! Well I did it! And I like it! haha

Peace Out Dude

May God fill you with His Peace on International Peace Day and every day! ~ Heather

Fresh and Fruity

Up for another challenge this month from the IIG Design Team?  You can check it out at www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com!

Our challenge was to scrap using the color of fruit.

I love apples! Green, red and yellow!!! Cut them up, throw them in a salad or just eating with some caramel dip, I love them! Those juicy ones that leave the juice dripping down your chin when you take a bite are the best! So, I think it had to be a given when we were challenged to make a layout using the color of fruit, that my layout would be based upon my love of apples!

I kept this layout really simple! Really wanted to focus on the picture of my oldest son, Payton, and his new love of Farmall tractors. I used some Stampin' Up papers that I got from a girlfriend on the layout. I used my favorite Cricut cartridge, Don Juan, to cut the title and then I ran the farm letters through my Fiskars paper crimper to add a little extra texture to the page.

Red apples, yellow apples, green apples and of course the brown stem!

Hope you enjoy my take on the challenge and that you will come join in the challenge with us!
For now ~ Heather

Here is a layout that I did awhile back but I am not sure I ever shared!  123 Jump is a layout of my 3 boys and their 2 cousins that are only a month older than them!  Used a lot of chipboard circles on this layout.  Just glimmer misted them to match the page!

Day 3 of Slam into Summer IIG Blog Hop

I see you made it back again!!!  Thanks for coming back to join me for some more fun!  Hope you are enjoying If It's Groovy's Design Team Slam into Summer Blog Hop

Day 3 still finds it very warm in Indiana . . . However, we did get some very much needed rain today!  Which is a very good thing!  It did not work in my favor though for these pictures I needed to take!

Found this idea on pinterest yesterday and decided it was a must try.  Now, please remember, this was my first attempt and I think I have learned a few lessons along the way but here goes anyway.
I got the idea from craftster.org.  I covered the bottom of an old cake pan with plastic beads.  I then placed into the oven at 400 degrees for about 20-25 minutes until the beads had melted.  Let the pan completely cool and this will pop right out!  Drill a small hole into it, tie some fishing line through and what do you got . . . a quick, super easy suncatcher!

As you can see, I used all the different color beads on this one but the next I plan to do by colors and do some red, white and blues to make for the 4th of July to hang around our deck.  These can be made in any size (I plan to make some from a muffin tin next).  I have also seen where they are made into windchimes and it is my hope to try that also!

These were so easy to make tho that I can't wait to recruit the little men this weekend to help me make more . . . choosing the colors that they want!

The Summer Blog Hop continues!

You made it back again!  HOORAY!!

If you are here on Day 2 of the If It's Groovy Summer Blog Hop, then WELCOME!!!

I don't know about where you are but it is HOT in Indiana!  And the first day of summer was only yesterday!  We experienced our 9th day of the year in the 90's!  Doesn't sound so bad but we normally only have 18 days in the whole year in the 90's!  It was hotter here yesterday then in Dallas or Orlando!  DANG!!!!

Yesterday I showed you an album that I made using recycled chipboard from work!  Well, here is yet another one today!  Yesterday purple, today PINK!  Not very often that I get to use these colors since I have 4 boys, but that's what makes part of this so fun for making it for someone else!  On top of that, it gives Kristen a way to be creative this summer, as well as record her life in 2012!

Don't forget to hit up the rest of the stops . . .
And they are:

Summer Blog Hop!!!

Hi Everyone and welcome to the Slam into Summer Blog Hop! You should have arrived here after visiting with Penny. If not, then just go and visit If It's Groovy (www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com) and you will be at the start of the hop!!!
Looking for an idea to keep the kids busy this summer?  Why not let them make their own album all about them?  I made this album using some recycled chipboard from work that was previously going in the trash!  Brought it home, made up an album, used my Cinch to bind it together and tada! An album for a friends child to add her comments and pictures to!  But you don't even have to put that much effort into it . . . just provide the materials and let the kids do it all on their own!    They could scrap their summer break, about their friends, their birthday . . . and the list goes on and on!  Let's get these kids being creative while they are not in school!

We here at If It's Groovy plan to show you projects over the next four days that make us think of Summer. We hope you enjoy your time and be sure to visit over each day as there may be new surprises along the way! We would love to have you follow our blogs and get to know us as well as give us a chance to know you :)

Happy Summer!!!
Heather

Thanks for visiting and I hope you swim, splash and sweat your way over to Michelle's blog!

Getting "Smash"ed!

Have you discovered all the rave yet . . . the K&Co Smash Books? I must admit, I have had this one for months! And I have added little things here and there as I find things that I want in my blue book. But it's only been with the inspiration from my girls at Tallyscrapper.com and the fb Smash*aholics group that I have actually sat down and down full pages at a time!

Above, is the page I done yesterday . . . my thoughts and feelings for the day! These were prompted by a challenge going over at Tally!!!

But then I had so much fun getting "Smash"ed that I decided to do another page today on my love of Zumba! As you can see, anything goes on a smash page . . . just throw it all on there! And no pics are even needed! I used the tags from my zumba shirt (or towel, don't really remember which) on this page!

Be sure to check out all the fun going on with these smash books! Would love to see what you create also!

Not for sensitive eyes! lol

If you don't like to look at pregnant bellies, this is not the place for you today! lol! Just got done scrapping another layout for a challenge over at Tallyscrapper.com. This was for the "What was I thinking?" challenge! Hope you enjoy!

This pic was taken before I headed to the hospital on the morning of my scheduled c-section. 15 pounds of baby in that belly . . . and it looks like it!!!! I was stretched to the max! So worth it now though when I look at my boys!

Just dropping off . . .

Well, with not having a job the past month, it has given me some time to get some scrapping done!! Here are just a few layouts I have made! The "Paci Pop" was done for design team!

I made this layout "The Best of Buds" about my boys and their friend Micah for a challenge over at Tallyscrapper.com! Don't you just love the bright colors of this? I had a lot of fun with it!!!

Oh look, and yet another layout for a challenge at Tallyscrapper!! This layout was made in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday which is tomorrow, March 2nd! My title is a Dr. Seuss quote!

Lots more to get posted . . . including some decorations I made for a baby shower! But for now, be sure to head over to the If It's Groovy blog and see what the new challenge is that started today!

Till next time ~ Heather

It's in the eyes . . .

I have been MIA again. My life has taken a course of it's own. Lots of things happening that are out of my control. But I do see how God is working in my life during this time. Trying to put my trust in Him and see His will for my life. It's hard to let go of the control but I am getting there by taking baby steps each day.

So, here I am in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day, to share with you a layout I did recently for IIG! The challenge this month is to get a close up of eyes and scrap them!

My little Jackson's eyes speak volumes. Every little thing he is thinking or feeling is expressed through his sweet little eyes. Because of that, I really wanted the focus of the layout to go straight to his sad, puppy dog eyes in this picture. This picture was taken right after he threw a huge fit . . . don't even remember what about now! The saying that the eyes are the windows to the soul is so completely true in his case!

I used Basic Grey's Oliver collection on this layout. A little doodling around the edges with a white pen just to help bring it all together and ta-da!!!

Make sure to stop over at www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com to see what the rest of the DT has designed for you this month and then join in the challenge!

IIG Birthday Blog Hop

A HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO IF IT'S GROOVY!!!!

Yeah! It's our 3rd year! In this day and age with so many scrapbooking blogs, it is great that we are still an active blog after 3 years! Sooo, thank you to all of our followers who have supported us!!!
We have a little blog hop going on today to help us celebrate! We hope you will enjoy and be inspired as you make your way through each of the Groovy Chics blogs! The DT will be showing special projects they have each made using the letters from the word "Birthday"!
You should have arrived here from Tammy's blog with letter 'R'! That means that I have the letter 'T'. I have a few fun projects that I made for you . . . I think I chose the easiest letter! hehe
So let's start with a TAG!!!
This tag was very Timmy inspired. I used my roller through distress inks for the background. I then stamped the flourishes with a distress ink, going off the edge of the tag.
I had so much fun with this metal! I embossed it using my Cuttlebug. I then took some alcohol inks over it to add color. Then I sanded it back down so the embossing would show clearer. Yes, those are real birthday candles, wrapped up with twine and tied in a bow.
I then wrote out my sentiment and punched out a circle. I then used glossy accents to adhere it to the back of a fragment tag. Tied it on with twine and added some scrap ribbon to finish off my birthday TAG!
The next item I made was a TREAT bag! I took some candy hearts and put in a ziploc bag! Then made the top by folding cardstock over the top. I decorated it with some eyelets to tie the ribbon through. The heart was stamped and then punched into a circle, inked the edges and pop dotted. Then I simply used alpha stickers to say "U R A Sweet Heart". Fun gift for teacher or you could make smaller for classmates! Or what about just giving to that special loved one!
Oh, but let's not forget about a ceramic TILE! This is a 6x6 ceramic tile that I decorated to be used for home decor. I cut the "JOY" out of vinyl and adhered. I then hot glued the ribbon on and added the embellishments! A little bling of course! So simple!
Oh, and since you all know me so well, you know that you can't get by without some TORN PAPER!! Whether it's on a birthday card like this one or on a scrapbook page, torn paper is a must for accomplishing that distressed look! So here is my birthday card to IIG with some torn paper on it!
I hope you have found some inspiration with my projects using the letter 'T' from birthday! Now it's time to hop on over to Sheena's blog at
to see what she has prepared for you using the letter 'H'!
Happy Birthday If It's Groovy!!! I have enjoyed being a part of you for the past 2 years! Love, Heather

Oh Baby!!!!

This month's challenge over at IIG was to have negative space! Well, here is what I did for my part on the design team!! Meet Keaton . . . the newest addition to Shane's side of the family! He is our first great-nephew! Isn't he adorable?????

Made this page using mostly Simple Stories Baby Steps collection! Add some glimmer mist, a prima flower, a button and just a little extra and here you go!!!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me show off a real sweetheart!
Till next time ~ Heather
