Up for a challenge?????

Are you up for a challenge???? Head on over to www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com!! The challenge this month was to look in the dictionary for a word that you don't know and scrap it!!! I used the word plethora! I have heard the word throughout my ?? years (no need to tell EVERYTHING!) and thought that it meant "a lot" and I was basically right! When I looked it up in the dictionary, plethora means "an overbundance". I liked that definition a whole lot better!!! Here is my lo! Head over to IIG and show us your lo!! Could just earn you a prize! But you better be fast, you only have till the end of the month!!! Get moving!!!

Been busy with lots of Christmas projects! Can't wait to share them with you but not until after the people have received them as gifts!!! Would love to know what you have been working on!! Share with me!

Have a blessed and wonderful day! God Bless, Heather

2 whole weeks!

Wow, I can't believe it has been 2 whole weeks since I have posted!!! I am so sorry about that! Been busy with lots of stuff, including having a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with family AND returning to work this week after 4 weeks off for my carpal tunnel surgery!!

If you haven't checked out the If It's Groovy Blog lately, you should head over there and have some fun joining the challenges!!!! Here is a little info about this month's challenge from Groovy Deb . . .

"Open up a dictionary!!! Do you ever wonder what a word means? Now is your time to find out!!! Open the dictionary and scrap a layout using the word you find!" After you do this, be sure to post it using Mr. Linky over at www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com or by emailing it to groovydeb@yahoo.com.

Will update soon with some of the projects I have been working on. Right now I am trying to finish scrapping a book for work for Take Your Son/Daughter to work day. Won't show that on here - ya know, privacy and stuff since it wasn't just my kids!!!

Oh yes, I am FINALLY on facebook so you can keep up there with me too! Be sure to find If It's Groovy on there also and click like!!!!

Have a great Friday!!! ~ Heather

Some DT projects to share . . .

Happy Saturday my friends!!! Just thought I would upload a few projects that I have done over the last few months for Design Team over at IfItsGroovy.blogspot.com.

"Mi Mejor Amiga" is a pic of one of my best friends, Clara! She lives in Texas and I took this pic of her when I was there visiting this past National Scrapbook Day. The challenge for IIG was translation - to scrap in a language other then our normal language. Since Clara is from Puerto Rico and speaks spanish (as well as her family speaking fluently - beautiful to listen to!), I decided to put my title in Spanish! I made this lo using NO patterned papers!!! Everything was done using masks and glimmer mist! The top gingham pattern was actually done using drywall tape! I sprayed it and then removed the tape from my background paper. I misted the flowers as well and of course, then had to add some prima bling!!!

This lo for DT was for the challenge of using birds on a lo. I used a Timmy stamp for the big bird. The other birds are from some October Afternoon rubons that I had left over. Paper is BG Recess and then I used a variety of flowers and and bling! The mask is a Tattered Angels mask, also using glimmer mist to create the BG paper. My 4 year old Jackson shot this picture of me while we were at the pool at the campgrounds this summer! My budding photographer! He loves to grab the camera and snap away! Many times I will turn on my camera to find that he has taken several pics - and they aren't half bad! Might have to scrap some soon - "From Jackson's View".

I love how this lo of Payton turned out!!!! These pics were taken out at the campground last summer while Payton was fishing!!! The papers are from The Paper Loft "Dude" collection! (Thanks Sis!) I cut the gears using my Timmy Sixxiz Dies on my cuttlebug! I then put some glimmer misted papers behidn the gears! Who says you can't put bling on a boy page? I added some of Timmy's metal gears! Love them! The "YOU" in the title were some scrap thickers that I distress inked and then used a black marker to doodle around the edges!
Off to hopefully get some scrapping done today!! Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Another card!

I hurried last night and got this card made for a couple from our church! I LOVE how it turned out! So sweet! And so simple! Hope you enjoy it too! I also took a ceramic tile and cut out their last name on some vinyl using my cricut and then put it on the tile. Has their name with a flourish under it and then Est. 2010. They loved it when I gave it to them at church last night.

Will update more later but in the middle of a training session right now via my lappy!

Have a great day! ~ Heather

Again? Seriously?

I know what you are thinking!! Really! She is seriously posting again in 1 week? It's true! Wanted to share with you a card I made for our Youth Pastor for Pastor Appreciation Month!

This card was made using Dead Doll Jack - a digital stamp from Dustin Pike! I am entering him into the Doodle Dragon Studio challenge this week! Challenge was to do anything your heart desires as long as you use a Doodle Dragon Studio image! Used my copics to color Jack! All the papers were scraps and then grabbed some BG buttons to finish off at the bottom of the sentiment!

More to come later! I actually did get a lo done this week! I have also been busy making some picture frames to donate to the Christmas in November craft fair. Those have to be delivered this morning! So, I must go get myself ready to do that. Normally I work there and take the pictures of kids with Santa! Because of my surgery last week, I have resigned the duties over to my sister this year! Hopefully I can still get MY kids over there to get their pictures taken with Santa - if they aren't too scared of him! HAHAHAHAHA

Have a great fall day ya'll! ~ Heather

Feel Better?

Been making a few things while I am home following my surgery. I need to get busy uploading some things but this is a quick card that I did today for a lady at our church that recently had a hip replacement! Sending it over to her today!
This card is a lift of my friend Debbie's card! You can check out her blog at smalltowngurrl.blogspot.com! The digi stamp is from Greeting Farms!

Hoping to get this weeks challenge over at Doodle Dragon Studio done, as well as the challenge over at Kenny K's! Also working on some crafty picture frames to donate to a craft fair this weekend. Need to try and have those done by tomorrow!

Hope you enjoy and I will get more updated later! ~ Heather

Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge

Made this card this morning for my nephew for Halloween! Going to submit it for the challenge over at Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge to do something Halloween! Of course the best part of the challenge is getting to use Dustin Pike digi stamps! He is sooooo talented! You can check out his blog at www.dustinpike.blogspot.com!
So, I used this Beware digi stamp and colored with copics! Then I used a bunch of scrap paper to make the card! I used the MS Drippy Goo punch for the border and of course lots of distress ink!! The "Happy Halloween" stamp was from Stampendous!

Still need to get a few other things uploaded but hope you are enjoying this stuff as much as I am enjoying coloring with my copics! Finally have mojo to do some layouts . . . now if I could just get the kids to take a nap! HAHAHA

Have a great Trick or Treat Day! ~ Heather

Shock?

I know, you are in shock, right? Me, posting 2 days in a row! What's up with that? Had time this morning to make a few cards. This is a digi stamp, his name is Roger, that my friend Debikini sent me! I used him to make a birthday card for my grandma! Used my copics to color him and then used some scrap paper & ribbon to make the card!!! WOOHOO for using scraps!!!

Been a while . . .

My dear wonderful friends . . .

Sorry I haven't been in contact much lately! I had the 2nd of my 2 carpel tunnel surgeries yesterday! Hurting pretty good this morning! About to head back to bed but really just wanted to update everyone on what's going on!

3 1/2 weeks ago I had my first CT release surgery on my right hand!! Being right handed, I haven't been able to do much the past few weeks! But here is a card I did this past weekend for a cousins "Rock Star" birthday as she became a teen!! Happy Birthday Gwynn!!

I used the Dead Doll Madison digi stamp from Dustin Pike and colored her with my copics! Also colored the old white button I found with the copics to match her shirt! Must admit that this card is a lift - Jennifer Dove- of one of Dustin's DT members! I am in love with Dustin's images! You can check him out over at http://www.dustinpike.blogspot.com/! Warning! His site can become very addictive and you just might become a stalker! I know from experience! HEHE HAHA!

I did another card yesterday using Dustin's Dead Doll Jack! I will try to get it uploaded later today!

Also, don't forget to head over to http://www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com/! That is where I am a DT member, if anyone has forgotten! Groovy Deb is currently posting Halloween projects daily that have been created by the herself and the DT! Lots of great Halloween projects and ideas! Hope to see you there!!

BTW: We are looking for some new DT members, so if you are interested, email Groovy Deb!

Love you all! Thanks for your hugs and prayers through these surgeries and I hope to be back in scrappin' form soon! - Heather

Friday Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday!! What a busy week. Here is a sketch I drew a few weeks ago with pictures of Carter in mind. He has so many funny facial expressions and I wanted to include them all in one layout. This sketch can be used for so many things. It could be a recap of your summer or just a fun weekend. If you use this sketch and want to show it off email it to me at guy_hs@sbcglobal.net and I will put it up on the blog and enter it in the drawing for the scrappy RAK. Here is how I used the sketch. Look at those cute little faces!!

Crate Paper-Brook Collection Product Review

What I liked:
Love the colors! I like that it is versatile enough that it can be used on boy or girl layouts. It has some great patterns and even the solid colored papers have great designs that can be used as pattern paper. I love the quality of the paper. The kit that I got included alpha's and title stickers and some great die cuts.

What I didn't like:
My only complaint was that it was impossible to find in my area. I first found it while I was in Texas and only bought a few sheets. Once I started using it I knew I had to have the whole collection.

How I used it:
I used the papers and chipboard on my "Top 10" layout for reasons why I scrap. I did add some stickles to the chipboard pieces to ad a touch of bling. I haven't used it on anything else yet. Boohoo!! I just don't want to cut the papers up. I am hoping to use it soon. Crate Paper is very addictive, I have two more collections on the way that should be delivered today!! Way to go Crate Paper!!

Weekly Round Up

This week was a busy week but I did manage to get a few things done.
This layout is of Carter he was having such a blast picking dandelions for me thinking they were flowers.

These cards I made with inspiration from the email from Archivers. I decided to make up some extra without a sentiment so that I am always prepared with a card ready to go. I used only scraps to make these. I love how they came out.

My Sketches...Your Layouts

You met the challenge and here are you beautiful layouts!! This week we had 4 entries for the sketches I drew. The winner of the RAK will be selected at the end of the month.

This sketch was done by Nancy, you can find her at scrapbook.com
This layout was done by Ria, you can find her at scrapbook.com

These two were done by Megan, you can find her at scrapbook.com

Tim Holtz Distress Inks-Product Review

This week I will be reviewing the Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

What I liked:
Everything!!! They are so versatile! You can use them so many ways and on virtually any project. One of my favorite techniques is to ink the edges of a paper or chipboard. I love how it drabs things up and gives it a vintage distressed look.

What I didn't like:
Nothing! I have every color and I love them all!!!

How I use it:
I use distress ink on probably EVERY layout or card that I work on. I love to use it on the edges of photos as well. I think it puts a bolder edge on projects and creates so much depth. I have also used it on a craft sheet with a mini mister to make unique backgrounds on pages or tags. I have found that setting it with a heat tool not only helps it dry faster but it also brings out the colors. On this layout I used the distress ink EVERYWHERE!! I inked all the edges of the papers, photos, and I even inked the chipboard.

Weekly Round Up

This weekend the Mojo flowing big time. Here are the pages I can share for now. Don't worry you will see the others eventually.

Beauties: This page I did for day 9 of the 10 day sketch challenge. The twist was to use bling and as you can see, I did!!! It is not often I get to do a girl page and use a bunch of bling!! I loved it.
123 Jump: This page is for week 2 of the monthly sketch challenge. The twist here was to use summer pictures.

Chasing Sarah: This page is another layout for the 10 Day Anniversary Challenge of the Monthly Sketch Challenge. The twist was to do a count down. So my twist was 5 pictures, 4 papers, 3 embellies, 2 ribbons, and 1 journalling spot.

This card I did for the Card challenge of at Fiskateers. I lifted this off of Sandy.

A quick shout out . . .

A quick shout out to my dear friend Debbie aka I-Blog-For-Bling . . .

A huge thank you for all your help here on my blog! Shoot, "HELP" is not even the right word! Help would imply that she helped me revamp my blog! When in truth, she has done it all!!! She is the one who has come up with new ideas and redesigned. She is awesome!!!!

So, Debbie, hats off to you and for all the work you have done here! I appreciate it so much!

Love you girl!!

Inkadinkado:Circles & Dots-Review

This week I will be reviewing the Circle & Dots stamp set from Inkadinkado.

What I liked:

I liked that you can overlap the images and they blend together perfectly. I also like that it creates a fresh young look.

What I didn't like:

Honestly there wasn't anything to not like.

How I used it:

I used different colors of Timmy's distress inks (Gotta love Timmy!) to stamp on my background paper. I just placed them at random and in different colors. I love the effect that it had and because of that, I didn't feel the need to embellish the layout any more than that! It was the perfect touch. I liked is so much that I made 2 Thank You cards after using the same technique. Check out my layout of the boys and their ring pops below.

Weekly Round Up

I want to send out a big Thank You to my friend Clara who got me this Paper Loft Dude collection. I love the colors and think the collection goes perfect with theses pictures I took last fall. I have had such a great time creating with these last week. The pages were inspired by the sketches from Jami's Monthly Sketch Challenge at scrapbook.com. Last week marked the 1 year anniversary of the challenge and to celebrate there was a new sketch each day. With my busy schedule I was able to complete 5 so far. Check them out.

Back in the SCRAP of things...

I have heard the rumors...I am now here to tell you what really happened...

I was abducted by aliens and taken to their home planet, where they stripped me of all powers of communication and creative juices. They held me hostage until my friend, Debbie aka I-Blog-For-Bling, came to the rescue and paid the ransom and told them that I had been denying my blog way too long. They didn't have a choice but to release me!!! She is very convincing!!!

That is the real story! Seriously!!! No way that I could even make this stuff up!!!

So, I am back!! I am ready to share some new changes to my blog and even some layouts that I have had been working on prior to my kidnapping!!! I am still on the the DT at http://www.ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com/ Thankfully Groovy Deb was very understanding of my little predicament!! Please stop by there and check out what we have been doing and thank Deb for me!!

So new features coming to my blog are:

Mondays will be a weekly round up, where I will show all the projects I have been doing in the past week.

Wednesdays will be a product review to help aid your addiction to all the scrappy goodies the world has to offer.

Fridays will be my own version of a sketch challenge. I will draw up a sketch and show you what I did with it. If you want you can even send me the pages you did with my sketch and I will feature them here on my blog.

Blog Candy!! We all love goodies in the mail right....well leave a comment on any post and once a month I will choose one and send you something fun.

Last but not least is we are going to be posting the challenges from the ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com challenges here with a link so you can participate as well.

Book of Me . . .

Here are a couple of the lo's I have been working on for Project 52 - Book of Me! There is hidden journaling on each one!!!! I have completed 7 of the 8 weeks so far! Will add my other 2 when I can get some good pics! Too much snow on the ground right now!

"Life Verse" is my favorite verse in the Bible. When we drew this topic, I debated and debated and searched and searched for what I was going to use. I have so many verses that will pop into my head at certain times, just when I need them! When I turned to this verse, and I had written in the margin of my Bible "Life Verse", I knew I had not only the scripture but also my title!

"I was Made 2 Love U" is my love story! This was the first time I used my gypsy!! I designed the title/heart while in the waiting room of the doctor's office!

My sb.com friends! Jennie (Virginia), Jenni (Indiana), myself and Clara (Texas)! When Jennie and Clara came to visit me, we were able to get together at my fave sb store - Archivers - where this pic was taken!!! This is for my . . . . fave sb store!

"Champions" is for my favorite sport played or fan! I am a big Yankees fan! We went to Yankee stadium for the last year of the old stadium to go on a Stadium Tour and catch a game! This is my nephew Tucker, my oldest son Payton, myself and hubby!

"Window Seat" was done both for a sketch challenge and for P52! This is for the view from my window. This pic was taken after some freshly fallen snow. It was taken from what should be my window seat filled with pillows, but instead is filled with toys!

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!!

Love, Heather

Here I am . . .

I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth! Seriously! I am alive and doing well!!! Not that you could tell from looking at my blog since I haven't posted since October! Shame on me! Not a lot new! We made it through the holidays and have had some wonderful time with friends and family!

Went to a weekend crop at the end of January! Had a great time with 25 other women (mom and one of my BFF included) scrapping the weekend away! Started a lot of work on my Project 52 Book of Me! I am really happy with the topics that Debbie and I came up with. They have been fun to scrap! This is my first attempt at doing an 8x8 album and I am finding it harder then I thought! However, I kinda like it!!!

Want to see a few lo's I have done recently? Yes! Oh good, I was hoping you would say that! Done both of these for a monthly sketch challenge on sb.com!

On "Twisted" had to use something that you wouldn't normally find on a lo or in scrappy room! I used bread twist ties! I sanded them and then glimmer misted them before twisting them around the hearts!

A fun time at the Block Party at our church this past September! Finally got to scrapping them and I loved the bold primary colors!

Have some fun scrappy stuff coming up! My friend Debbie is coming from Washington at the end of March (34 more days) to visit and scrapbook! This will be the first time we have met IRL! I am so excited!!!

In May I am planning a trip to Texas to spend a weekend scrapbooking with Clara and Jennie! We will be celebrating National Scrapbook Day (May 1st I believe)!

Thanks to all who stop by and check out my blog! Will hopefully have some more exciting news for you soon!

Love, Heather
